Health services are presented in different forms.

Citizens of Kazakhstan can use free and paid services in public medical institutions (polyclinics, hospitals). Foreign residents of the city and guests of the country can also apply to the same institutions in most cases for a fee. This applies to any disease that does not threaten the life of a patient or the health of others.

If the state of health of a foreign student threatens his/her life or the health of others, in case of accidents, poisoning, injuries, childbirth and emergency conditions during pregnancy, emergency and urgent medical care is unimpeded, free of charge and in full. Free for foreigners is the treatment of the following diseases:

  • diphtheria;
  • measles;
  • rubella;
  • whooping cough;
  • scarlet fever;
  • chickenpox;
  • epidemic paratitis;
  • paraffins A, B, C;
  • polio;
  • acute respiratory viral infections;
  • flu;
  • meningococcal infection;
  • cholera;
  • typhoid fever;
  • tuberculosis;
  • pulmonary form of anthrax;
  • plague;
  • hemorrhagic viral fevers;
  • viral hepatitis A, E;
  • malaria;
  • group of acute intestinal infections.

When the threat to the life of the patient or the health of others is eliminated, treatment becomes paid in the same way as planned medical care in any of the clinics. Treatment can be paid at the expense of personal funds or through health insurance.
In case of availability of a contract for the provision of free medical care, foreign citizens have equal rights with Kazakhstani citizens for medical assistance within the framework of the Compulsory social health insurance.

The network of pharmacies is well developed in Almaty. There are also wholesale warehouses, where you can buy medicines and other products at a wholesale price.

In Almaty and Astana it is good to use the reference and navigation application - 2GIS, which provides the most up-to-date reference information on any institutions, public transport routes and so on.
