At the moment, students can get bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. degrees and devote themselves to research in a variety of fields and specialties. Here, a student will be able to choose a program and specialty to their liking. In addition, the training programs of many universities are very flexible. Many universities offer the possibility of student exchange programs, which allow you to wean a certain period of time in another country, or get a double diploma and many other options.
In Kazakhstan, the structure of higher professional education is based on the principles of the Bologna Declaration (the Great Charter of Universities, June 19, 1999) and is a three-level model for specialists training. Level 1. Bachelor degree. Degree of a specialist.
The basic higher education includes obtaining a bachelor's degree and a degree of a specialist. Enrollment in programs with the award of these degrees can have holders of education equivalent to Kazakhstan's secondary general or secondary vocational.
Duration of the study is from 3 to 4 years for a bachelor, 4-5 years - for a specialist (some specialties). A graduate of a bachelor's degree receives a general fundamental education, bachelor's degree and diploma, after which one can immediately begin to work by profession or continue their studies in a magistracy.
A graduate with a degree "specialist", in addition to general fundamental training, gets deeper knowledge of the chosen profile, backed up by mandatory production practice. Also after graduation, they can begin to work by profession or continue their studies at the magistracy.
Level 2. Master's degree.
Master's degree in Kazakhstan refers to postgraduate education and is divided into two areas: scientific and pedagogical with a duration of the studies of at least two years and a profile one with a period of study of at least one year. Master's degree allows to deepen specialization in the chosen direction and to prepare for further scientific research activities in doctoral studies.
Applicants of a bachelor's degree and education equivalent to Kazakhstan's higher basic education, including specialists over 5 years of study, can apply for master's programs.
Graduates defend the final work (master's thesis), which results in a master's diploma and the degree of a Master. After graduation, graduates of a master's degree have the right to professional activity in the chosen direction and can engage in scientific activities.
Level 3. Doctor's degree.
Doctoral studies are the main form of training scientific personnel in Kazakhstan. Training in doctoral studies include theoretical training, including basic and profiling disciplines, professional practice, research work and the writing of a dissertation. The training lasts at least three years in accordance with the base obtained during the master's program, and is also divided into the scientific-pedagogical and profile areas. At the end of the doctoral student will have to defend the thesis, after which the graduate receives a Ph.D. or doctorate in profile.
Post-graduate medical and pharmaceutical education includes residency, magistracy and doctoral studies. In the residency, in-depth training in clinical specialties is provided for a duration of two to four years of study, depending on the specialization.
